Behind the Scenes at THSCA: Where Relationships Drive Performance

Every summer there are a handful of events that immediately go on my calendar, and the Texas High School Coaches Association Convention is one of them. For the Dynamic Fitness & Strength team, THSCA stands alongside the WFCA Wisconsin Football Coaches Association as one of the two most important events we attend each year. With nearly 15,000 coaches gathering under one roof, there simply isn't another event quite like it when it comes to connecting with the high school coaching profession.

One of the things that makes THSCA unique is its diversity. Every sport is represented, and the practical sessions reflect that. Throughout the convention, coaches from across the state share real-world ideas and practical applications that can immediately impact athletic programs. It is a tremendous learning environment and a reminder that great coaching is built on sharing experiences, not keeping them to yourself.

For our team, however, the exhibit hall is where the work gets done. Led by Coach Kevin "YOX" Yoxall, our Territorial Manager for the state of Texas, this week is all about serving coaches. Whether they already train on Dynamic equipment, are preparing for a new installation, or are seeing our products for the very first time, every conversation matters. Coach Yox continues to do an outstanding job building the Dynamic brand throughout Texas and watching him work is a reminder that relationships remain the foundation of this profession. Equipment may open the door, but trust is what keeps it open.

Unlike many of the conferences I attend throughout the year, THSCA rarely gives me the opportunity to sit down and listen to presentations. My schedule is filled with booth visits, facility conversations, evaluating exhibit layouts, reconnecting with longtime friends, and meeting coaches who are passionate about improving the training environments for their student-athletes. Those interactions are just as valuable as any lecture because they provide a firsthand look at what coaches need and where our profession continues to evolve.

If you're a sport coach or strength coach from outside the state of Texas, I would strongly encourage you to consider attending THSCA at least once. The size, energy, and quality of the event make it one of the premier coaching conventions in the country. You'll leave with new ideas, new relationships, and a renewed appreciation for the impact high school coaches have on athletic performance.

Next stop for me is one I'm especially looking forward to: Home Gym Con in Louisville, Kentucky. Until then, keep investing in your athletes, keep investing in your relationships, and remember...
